Timelapse of the Red Sun Rising

See how many wutang orphans you can spot throughout the video ;)

Urban Wutang

Urban Wutang… aka, we found a short alley in downtown Longview and snapped some shots. ;)

Actually, my precious “wutang” clan had all decided to wear their wutang shirts (get your own here!) for our Meals on Wheels route that morning, so i decided to snap a few shots for fun. and away we go…

Princess Broke Thumb

got a riddle for you.

what do you get when you mix the wutang van sliding door and a thumb. ya get a broken thumb.

nother one….

how does a cellist play with a broken thumb…. she doesn’t.

ok so those are not very funny, but neither is having a broken thumb. basically, i lost my since of humor when it happened. ask my friend zach who makes me laugh instantly… sent me a text and i was like “whuuuh? that’s dumb”. In fact, 10 minutes after it happened, i nearly bit the lady’s head off at the health food store who tried to tell me “next time, try…” to which i snappily replied “i don’t plan on there being a next time.” really it was just extremely poor timing. i was in so much pain at the time not knowing that it was broken, just thinking i needed to suck it up and go about my day. after getting chills at lowes and having to stop and cry every 10 minutes, i started to think it might be more than just smashed. and it only took 6 hours to convince me to go to have it checked. what i can say, it’s my job to kiss the owies, not get them!

so that was 3.5 weeks ago and according to broken bone googleage, it’ll take 4-6 weeks to heal.

do you realize  how much you use your thumb? try it. for one day tape your thumb to the rest of your hand so you can’t use it and see how it goes… oh and dont’ forget to add stabbing pain in the thumb as well as cramping muscles throughout the entire arm when you try to use your index finger to do the work of the thumb. actually don’t, you don’t need that kind of frustration in your life… just trust me on that. but seriously… cutting a mango… fuhget abowt it.

the really great part is that every time i take the splint off, look at it and think “wow, it’s looking so much better” and then show someone else, they run screaming. or at least turn away and shiver and gasp. whuht? never seen a bruised thumb before? :)

the good thing is that i was a good girl and followed directions and have a back up cello player. i mean i could probably still play the cello if i reeeally needed to, but along with my tears of pain and frustration, you’d be crying at the sound bursting forth from the strings.

so here’s to 2 more weeks of being Princess Broke Thumb…yeah that’s the nickname people at church gave me, lol. gotta luv’em. :)

Surfin Safari on a Rainy Day

A few weeks ago we cut down some bamboo from our friends property for our garden. The kids cut some down as well so they could build a teepee. today at walmart i found a couple vinyl table-clothes that would “hopefully” work as a covering for their bamboo teepee poles. Unfortunately it started to rain and outside fun was canceled for the rest of the day.

no biggie.. not for these crazy kiddos.

We’re the Wu-Tang Orphans…

“We’re the Wu-tang orphans, yes indeed. The unwanted fruit that flourished from our father’s seed. the apple doomed to ripen by the rot of the tree and prematurely fall into a fallen society…”

You only get to see them for about 7 minutes during the show. They’re dirty, wild, and in need of much healing and rescue… but behind the masks and tattered, dirt-stained costumes are some pretty awesome kids who have put in several hours of practice and are without a doubt an audience favorite. We’ve had several little actors join us for different shows, but I have the daily pleasure of housing, feeding, and schooling four of them (aka my kiddos). So, we thought it would be nice to get their take on The 5 Dragon Daughter and whatever else floats their boat.

{FYI: the following was unscripted-although I did have to restart a few times because apparently, I can’t get my children’s names straight when it counts-I blame the fever… aaaaand Zosie has a cold… and yes, their arms are covered in angry bird temp tattoos} :P
